An Illusion Born of Greed

Wow. To those who thought I was pretty much dead, abandoning the internet, or suddenly got a random case of amnesia and forgot who I was, that is definitely not the case. My family was having a crisis over the winter break and I just didn't feel up to even going on the computer nonetheless actually posting anything to lj. I would really rather not talk about it...

But anyway, I managed to get through most of my midterms. I just got to withstand physics. (fingers crossed) But AUGH, why did I not study those canadian feminists! I could have gotten an A if it wasn't for those five women. Maybe I just didn't study them because they all had the damn idea to choose who gets to reproduce and who doesn't. Sure, they made leaps and bounds for womens rights but I still am annoyed by the sheer audacity these women had to support compulsory sterilization. I know, I know, those with genetic diseases and STDs could transfer thier disease to thier offspring but seriously, these women thought perversions and prostitution were sexually transmitted! I'm not defending the perverts or prostitutes but if you think about it, back then what did count as a perverse? I'm sure more than half the peole on livejournal would have to be sterilized if we went by these women's standards.

Finally got to watch Durarara!! I was waiting for it to air for so long. It's really more than I could ask for having such a popular cast. And the art style! I love it. The females have eyes which are only SLIGHTLY bigger than the males! In comparison to other animes the character designs not that much to look at, and the animation sort of cheaps out on us by making random passer-bys giant human-shaped shadows, but the fluidity of motion is so far very well done. And why the hell is Baccano! playing in the background of Durarara!!? 'sup Nice. And lordy, lordy. Gratuitous english strikes again.... and gratuitous Russian? But the thing that surprises me the most about this show is the amount of advertizing for Aniplex's other shows in there. I find it almost embarrassingly hilarious that I can recognize them all.

Oh Lady Gaga, my guilty pleasure! I saw her performance for the grammys..... just wow. She just trotted out Sir Elton John like it was nothing! I should have expected that they were BFFs or something. I mean, they do have the same taste in clothes. They probably go shopping together. Now that's an awesome mental image.

I just studied for a Physics test, a Chemistry (significant figures) test, and a big math unit test for three days straight. I don't ever want to see an Arabic numeral again.


On the other hand besides all that math being shoved in my face in all the other classes Humanities is definitely a breath of fresh air. Mock governments, history, and watching episodes of the Rick Mercer Report in class, this is wonderful. Especially my teacher's e-mails to his students. He send us an email saying that we need to have a .pdf file printed ad ready for next class, and then his post script is suddenly something out of a spy novel. Cyber attacks? Codename: <<It's hell>> Codename: <<We will not go to heaven>> Now, he really knows how to  grab my attention, doesn't he?

I've been waiting for Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box to come out for so long and after losing a lot of sleep and playing this game for 19 hours I'm finally nearing the ending. and gosh I'm so tired and I need sleep but  I'm really excited because it means NEW CHARACTER INTRODUCTION TIME~

It's a beautiful thing guys.

My wrists may spontaneously hurt for some unknown reason and make simple tasks impossible to do but isn't this just motivation? I just have to hurry to get stuff done.

Having to check my flist as quickly as I can and hurry and make a mad dash to do thing because of the unknown possibility of and onset can be exhilarating.

I can totally deal with this... maybe... of course I can.

Finally school is finished! I guess I'm happy with how I did. : /
A few As and nothing lower than a B. I know that is probably more than most could hope for but I sort of feel like these grades mean nothing and I should be disappointed for getting them. You see, a dear friend of mine has high academic aptitude, meaning the only thing she won't get an A in would be PE. I know she tries hard ad she deserves those marks but it really hurts to see that  your 100% effort won't even get you on the honour roll when her effort makes her grades near perfect. Oh well, I have advanced placement summer school to look forward to.


I will not lie. I cried a lot today but not about Michael Jackson. True, it's sad that he died and that he had a very hard life, but that won't send me over the edge. I reached October 4th in P3 today and as expected I cried like a baby.  ( [Spoiler alert] )

tldr; I will cry over video game character death but not real-life celebrity death.

Well, it's that time of year again
It's the time of year where everyone goes on hiatus. I, myself, am no exception. In fact studying is the reason why I missed last week's journal writing deadline. Maybe I might get the chance to reply to comment or write some comments but I doubt it because of the fact that my weekend will be loaded with studying except for this one; I am going to Anime Evolution and I am going to blow lots of cash because this is the one time every year when I can totally nerd-out in public.


tldr;
Hiatus gaiz.

Turns out, the doctor thinks I have Post-viral Laryngitis. But who knows, he was just a walk-in clinic doctor. For all I know, I could have Lupus.

Have you ever went dungeon crawling in Persona 3 for hours, and you get a ton of really good stuff and lots of money, evade the reaper five times, kill a bunch of golden shadows, level up twice but you still don't leave the dungeon because everyone in your party is tired and you really want to level grind because you are so under-levelled because all the full moon bosses were easy except this one , and you just want to level up once more, but then a moderately strong enemy just so happens to be hiding around a corner and you think because you are nearly out of SP you should escape but when you do that you fail to escape and it kills you leaving all your hard work for naught? Yup, that feeling sucks.

I really want my party to consist only of Aegis, Ken, and Koromaru. Because you're an emo boy who fights shadows, why not fight them with a robot, a dog and an elementary school kid.

I've decided that with every single post I write the subject line will be somehow related to the post but in a really cryptic way.  Why? Because I like puzzles. =D

I have a resolution: I have to update this journal once a week. I'm inept at time management and having a goal like this can be a sort of step towards improvement. Why yes I am using a social networking site to improve skill that I would need for a career. It's certainly amazing how much people rely on the internet. At least I'm trying to use it productively. :/

You know that feeling that you get when you go to a party knowing that you will know no one there but you really don't want to make the one who invited you upset so you go anyways and it is really, really awkward and then the only one you can socialize with is the host. But you have to stand back and quietly listen to all their chatter about things that only happen at their school. So you end up having to pre-occupy yourself by playing with your cell until the conversation is over and the worst part is that no one really seems to notice. And the only other person you know has bisexual tendencies and because you haven't seen that person in a while the change in behaviour is astounding so you are not used to her 'platonic' advances you end up being the easiest one to freak out so she picks on you more than the rest and all you can to is try to cover your eyes or hide your chest with your knees or cry out to the host to come and save you. And you are also very freaked out about a Trigonometry test which you must get an A (for various reasons) so when you try talking to people you accidentally say a trig formula.
I'm very bad at socializing with people at parties or galas and the like but if it's some random stranger in a public place like a convention or a shopping mall I can spark random conversations with no problems at all.

Also my voice teacher says my vocal chords are swollen right now and I really need to rest them. Darn. It was because I had practiced so much for a music festival last week. Double darn. This is what I get for practicing two hours and 45 minutes in one day. I think every opera singer should be ready with sign language in times like these, shame the only things I can remember is 'dog' and 'music'.

This one is just ridiculous. After hours of smashing zombies head's in he greets his childhood friend in a horrible cheery way that almost makes you not realise that he has blood on him. I love subtle things like that.

That puzzling young man. Legal Luke! I like it because it's 1) Legal, who is very awesome, and 2) it looks like he's playing Scrabble or he's looking at the periodic table of elements. Either way it's a lovely icon. NaCl is my periodic table otp. <33

I don't even get this one. Finland with a chainsaw does not compute. But he still is adorable.

Compared to the others I don't use this icon as much. I only use this one when I'm being sentimental, sympathetic or thoughtful. The bright golden colours seem to be very mood lifting. (Doujinshi covers make some of the best icons especially Reborn ones.)

So, after being MIA from the internet due to book-learning and debates and all that jazz the thing I was most worried about is HOLY CRAP I WILL NEVER GET UP TO DATE WITH MY FLIST.

That is to say was.
Because, you see, I apparently have a little thing called spyware hidden deep in the crevices of my computer. Which would have been eradicated if my computer updates it's software which it can't because the spyware purpose is to block me from accessing the updates. And thus the vicious cycle continues.
The only way to get rid of it is to wipe my harddrive. I'm reluctant to do so but I decided it's for the best and I have a lot of transferring files to do. :\ I really don't like this.

Frankly I'm so exhausted by the whole thing I've just stopped caring. It sucks. I'm going to wipe my hardrive because some sweaty geek sitting in front of a computer miles away decided that it fun to mess with people's computers just for the sake of being a dick. But there's really nothing i can do about it.

On another note, I still can not believe that my parents actually bought this 200$ hardcover signed edition of this book that I really wanted. I'm even more surprised by the fact that I've been making them buy me this series for a while now and they haven't figured out it's about gay couple who are working as chefs in New Orleans. I LOVE IT TO BITS. I forgot how funny it was and how, for some strange reason, I love it when they say 'sweet heart'.

I need some Persona 3 or Persona 4 icons. >:I
P4 is cool and all but I like Persona 3 better. Orpheus > Izanagi. What's with all these stupid attacks like "Raise defence for 1 turn."? Don't get me started on penalty cards and blank cards. I also like the music in P3 better. And is it me or are the camera angles really annoying when you are running though Yukiko's Castle? But I will admit that it is SO MUCH EASIER to level up in Persona 4 because you don't have bloody Yukari (that hussy) getting tired all the time. >.> And Yousuke and Naoto are cool beans and the Kanji arc is going to be awesome so I still love this game.

Lately I have been pressuring my mom to go to Best Buy with me because she can't tell a video game console from  the game. And on Saturday. I went with her and my dad. I had heard that some PS3s can play PS2 games so if one was available I would get it. So like the smart person I am I went to the sales people and asked if they knew anything about that. But  my dad was acting like a three year old in a movie theatre (the kind that has to ask you what's going on every five seconds) and he kept asking which one is better but it doesn't matter which one is better if the games I want to play are for PS2. So the salespeople are like "PS3 OWNS LOL". They tell me that the one that plays PS2s is discontinued and every last one of them was sold and there is probably no way to find one unless you go on eBay but their prices will be through the roof. Okay then screw that.  So I asked if they had any PS2s in stock. They did so they lead me to them. They blabbered on for a while and said that they don't make games for the PS2 anymore (untrue you bastards, its called Persona 4) and asked me what games I wanted for the PS2 because they might have released a PS3 version (I doubt it) "Persona 3" Says my dad. So the salesguy walks up to his computer of perpetual Best Buy knowledge. Types it up and all he can find is Persona 4, no surprise. "We dun' have this there game in stock anymore lol but hey, maybe you can find this here Persona 4 in PS3 format." I don't want a bloody PS3 buddy, I want my bloody PS2. >:I LISTEN TO ME!
Screw them. We went to Future Shop and after a minute of searching LO AND BEHOLD, IN ALL OF IT'S GLORY, PERSONA 3. I swear I heard angelic music in my ears when we found it. So we gave the lovely guys at Future Shop our patronage.

In short: I bloody HATE those guys at Best Buy and I want to smash their heads in with my new PS2 and stab their eyes with my memory card.
Shame I don't actually 'receive' it until Christmas.

Fukuyama Jun, Grell must be your most flamboyantly gay role yet. I didn't think anyone could beat Lelouch but Grell, my dear, you take the cake, cutlery and the whole birthday party. Sorry Lelouch, even you can't win against a chainsaw wielding metrosexual (but maybe that's not the right word because Grell is clearly G-A-Y)  who wants to have Ono Daisuke's kids.  And the way that Fukuyama Jun says his lines is PERFECT. Good thing Sebastian didn't kill him.

I'm a magnet for the gays. Not because of the giant hype on the news about Proposition 8 or Doctor Who being randomly gay and fabulous ("I was alone, completely ALONE") but my book which I had bought  a while ago had a randomly gay character. I felt like I had won the lottery but the prize money was delivered to me by a leprechaun who arrived on my doorstep via rainbow. (Unexpected but not unwanted) Seriously, I didn't even know about it until I read chapter 12.

Side note: Man, if Donna really does die Jack better replace her so that the show could be more gay.

I finished Trauma Center Under the Knife 2 not too long ago.
Why did they try to make the characters more pretty and fail miserably?
Poor Victor and Chase; their designs suffered the most from this tragedy. But on the bright side, at least they have difficulty levels so you don't get stuck on one operation and forget about it for half a year and come back to the game later going "Damn it! I forgot why I don't play it anymore!" and extracting things is a lot easier but applying the antibiotic gel is hard as hell to do for reasons unknown to me.
Not to mention the really really corny epilogue which I won't even talk about because it was so corny. Well maybe the epilogue was perfect, I wouldn't know because I still haven't finished the first game. orz
